FSSAI Registration

What is FSSAI?

FSSAI registration is a mandatory requirement for food businesses in India to ensure food safety and quality standards are met. The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) issues this registration to businesses involved in manufacturing, processing, packaging, and selling food products. Obtaining FSSAI registration helps in building consumer trust, ensuring compliance with food safety laws, and enabling businesses to operate legally within the food industry.

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) is an independent statutory body that ensures food safety and quality in India. The FSSAI’s functions include:

  • Setting standards: The FSSAI sets science-based standards for food, including horizontal standards that apply to various food categories and vertical standards that apply to specific food products.
  • Regulating food: The FSSAI regulates the manufacture, storage, distribution, sale, and import of food.
  • Providing technical support: The FSSAI provides scientific advice and technical support to the government.
  • Promoting awareness: The FSSAI promotes awareness about food safety and standards.
