FSSAI modification updates a food business's registration for changes in ownership, location, or activities.
To modify the existing FSSAI license FBOs need to submit an online application through the online mode on Food Safety Compliance System (FoSCoS) and possess a valid receipt of the application having a seventeen-digit application reference number.
The processing time for the modification of FSSAI license application may vary depending on the type of modification and the completeness of the application. However, it usually takes around 30-45 days to process the application.
If there is any change that alters the information contained in the license certificate (Form C), Food Business Operator shall apply for modification of license with a fee of Rs. 1000 plus the differential fee, equal to the difference in annual license fee, in case of upgradation.
Modification of FSSAI license or registration is of 2 types: Form C Modification – For the modification of information printed on Form C. Non – Form C Modification – For the modification of supporting information and documents.
The FBOs are required to upload the following documents while applying for an application.
- Any change in documents or information provided during the grant of the previous food business license.
- Certificate of Food Safety Management System being adopted
- Medical fitness certificates of all workers engaged in the firm
- All details of technical personnel in charge of the operation
Important Reminders
- The relevant FBO may select only one category for change at a time during the process, as required by the Food Licensing authority.
- Food manufacturers/processors who have obtained a food license under an incorrect category must have their license modified.
- To add a new business, change the business address, update contact details, or alter the product category, an FBO must submit a request for an update to their food license.
- The FSSAI Designated Officer (D.O.) is responsible for reviewing the application for changes and may ask the FBO for further clarification. The FBO is required to respond within 30 days.
